About Me.
Hi, I'm Marvin and I was born in 1999 in Halle an der Saale (Germany). Since I was 5 years old, I've been passionately involved in music. I started with the violin, but then realized how high-pitched and extroverted it truly is, so I switched to an instrument whose character closely resembles my own: the viola. It was practically love at first "stroke"! Today, I work as a freelance musician and perform concerts around the globe. Whether as a soloist, in chamber music settings, or in orchestras, it doesn't matter as long as there's music! I'm excited to take you along on this journey!
Education.
The love for the viola allowed me to attend the High Giftedness Center for Music in Weimar in 2016, where I could balance my academic and musical education. It was a time that has shaped me musically and personally to this day. After completing high school, I was drawn to the north: I became a student at the University of Music in Lübeck under the guidance of Prof. Pauline Sachse. I'm still studying with her, although we have since moved to the Leipzig University of Music. In 2022, I had the great privilege of studying at the Mozarteum in Salzburg with Prof. Veronika Hagen, and in 2023, I had the opportunity to study with Prof. Máté Szűcs in Geneva.
Successes.
Throughout my musical career, I've strived to continuously participate in competitions. I won first prizes at regional and state levels in the "Jugend musiziert" competition when I was just 7 years old. On the national level, in 2019, I received my third first prize along with a special prize from the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben for achieving the highest score. As I progressed in my studies, it was time to tackle international competitions. I earned first prizes at the "International Kings Peak Competition," "Nouvelles étoiles" in Paris, and the "2nd International Classical Music Competition" in Vienna, as well as a special prize for the best interpretation of a contemporary piece at the "International Anton Rubinstein Competition" in Düsseldorf.
Everyday Life.
As a soloist and member of the Javus Quartet and the LGT Young Soloists, I've had the opportunity to travel extensively. I've performed concerts in many European countries, as well as in Asia, Australia, North and South America, in prestigious concert halls such as the Berliner Philharmonie, the Wiener Konzerthaus and Musikverein, the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden, the Konzerthaus Berlin, the Victoria Hall in Singapore, and the Kennedy Center in Washington. I've been invited to perform in concert series and festivals such as "Young Euro Classic," the "südtirol festival – merano.meran," the Salzburg "Mozartwoche," the "Festspiele Mecklenburg Vorpommern," and alongside the Bergische Symphoniker at the "Marler Debüt."
